Union City girls overpower Ninnekah

Union City took on Ninnekah in hopes of improving its record to 4-3. The Lady Tigers overpowered the Owls, getting the win, 61-34.

UC’s strong defense only allowed six Ninnekah points in the first quarter while scoring 13.

The Lady Tigers came out firing in the second quarter putting up 18 points. Senior Morgan Englebretson was on the charity line for six shots after Ninnekah’s coach was given two technicals and ejected from the game.

Union City’s energy resurfaced as the Lady Tigers forced many turnovers upping the score and led 31-11 going into the half.

UC tacked onto the lead in the second half by draining six three-pointers. Junio Caitlyn Maddox, who is recently coming off an injury, knocked down her first three-pointer of the season.

Senior M’Kynna Woods led the Lady Tigers in scoring with 16 points.

Coach Anderson utilized the bench giving everyone an opportunity to play. Sophomore Livia Nelson closed out the game with a three-pointer of her own to cement the victory for the Lady Tigers.

Union City will face Minco in the Bulldog Classic on Thursday at 7 p.m.
