Upon Further Review… SE Men’s Tennis Out?

THE CALL

Southeastern men’s tennis did not make the NCAA Division II men’s tennis tournament. Bumped out by Nebraska-Kearney.

THE VISUAL EVIDENCE

• Next-to-last regional rankings had Southeastern at No 4 and UNK at No. 6

• Southeastern lost in first round of its conference tournament. UNK did not even qualify for its own conference tournament.

• Southeastern defeated Nebraska-Kearney head-to-head, 5-3, at neutral site in April.

• ITA rankings: Southeastern No. 43, UNK No. 44. SE has been ranked ahead of UNK in each of the three rankings in 2017.

UPON FURTHER REVIEW

The visual evidence seems to be indisputable. Southeastern should have received the NCAA bid and not have been leapfrogged by a team it beat head-to-head in the final weeks of the season, which was two spots below it in next-to-last rankings.
