USAO takes No. 1 seed in SAC men’s basketball tournament

OKLAHOMA CITY – Science & Arts landed the top seed for the upcoming Sooner Athletic Conference men’s basketball tournament.

The Drovers, ranked 10th in the NAIA, will meet a first-round winner in the quarterfinals Thursday. No. 16-ranked Southwestern Assemblies of God, Oklahoma City University and Wayland Baptist finished among the top four seeds to get byes for the first round, which will be contested Tuesday.

Each of the SAC’s teams qualified for the conference tournament. John Brown, Texas Wesleyan, Mid-America Christian and Southwestern Christian earned the right to host the SAC Tournament first round Tuesday.

The SAC Tournament shifts to Mid-America Christian’s Gaulke Activity Center for the semifinals and championship. The semifinals happen Feb. 28, then the semifinal winners square off 5:30 p.m. March 1 at the Gaulke Activity Center in Oklahoma City.

Science & Arts took the 2021 SAC Tournament title 69-50 against Mid-America Christian on March 2 in Chickasha, Okla. Cameron Hines propelled the Drovers with 16 points and became the tournament most valuable player.
