LAWTON, Okla.– The Cameron University volleyball team started play in the ThunderWovles Volleyball Classic in Pueblo, Colo. today with a win against Wayland Baptist this morning winning the match 3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 25-19). In the second match vs. New Haven the Aggies would fall 0-3 (22-25, 19-25, 21-25).
The Aggies put on a dominating effort in match one taking all three sets from WBU. Cameron’s offensive attack was headlined by Kathryn Evans, who had 13 kills on 25 attacks with a .480 kill percentage. Other Aggies that shined were Rebecca Green, who added 9 more kills and the Aggie setter Jenna Risoli, who had a game high 31 assists.
In match two vs. New Haven the Aggies were led offensively by Green, Tarayn McMillan, Shannon Dulaney who all had eight kills each, and Risoli dished out 23 assists. CU as a team registered 10 blocks, but hit .140, and committed 18 errors against a New Haven team that was selected to win the Northeast-10 Conference.
With the split today against Wayland Baptist and New Haven, the Aggies overall record moves back to 3-3.
Cameron will compete in two more matches tomorrow vs. CSU-Pueblo and Adams State at noon and 6 p.m.
