TULSA – Tierney Coleman records career high 21 points in the Oral Roberts women’s basketball team’s 84-71 victory over North Dakota Friday evening at the Mabee Center.

ORU got its best first quarter start of the season with 27 points to begin the game. The Golden Eagles shot 53.3 percent from the field in the first 10 minutes behind eight points by Tierney Coleman. After going up by as much as seven, North Dakota came back to within two, before ORU pulled away by nine to end the period.

The Fighting Hawks pulled to within three with three minutes to play in the first half. UND tied the game at 33 with 1:40 remaining. ORU went into the break with a four point lead after going 41.7 percent from the field in the first half. The Golden Eagles only made three field goals in the second.

The Golden Eagles had multiple double-digit leads in the second half. After another 11-point lead, North Dakota brought it back to within four before the Golden Eagles went on a 9-2 run to go back up by 11. North Dakota pulled to within five with three minutes to play until a quick 7-0 run by ORU that was capped with a three-point basket by Keni Jo Lippe. The Golden Eagles went 9-for-15 from the field in the fourth. ORU scored 20-plus points in three quarters of action.

ORU’s Regan Schumacher grabbed 10 rebounds. Freshman Tierney Coleman scored a career high 21 points with five rebounds, five assists and five steals.

Ariel Walker had 16 points, five rebounds and three assists. Keni Jo Lippe captured a season high 16 points, two rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Megan Zander recorded a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds.

The Golden Eagles will play game two of the weekend series against North Dakota Saturday, January 9 at 5 p.m. inside the Mabee Center.
